Welcome to the Overweight/Over Dimensional online permitting system. This site issues permits for overweight/over-dimensional vehicles along Interstates and Designated Highways and other State Maintained Highways.

Visit Over Weight Over Dimensional on drive.ky.gov for the following permit request:

Single Trip S05 Metal Commodities permit

Annual A05 Metal Commodities permit

Annual A09 Feed Certificate

Permits will be reviewed in the order received with no exceptions. Allow 10-12 business days for annual permits and super load permits to be reviewed.

Holiday Travel
There are no holiday travel restrictions in Kentucky.

Hours of Travel
Travel in Kentucky is allowed 24-7 unless specified otherwise on the permit. However, this DOES NOT APPLY for mobile homes. Mobile homes are allowed daylight hours only Monday through Saturday with no travel permitted on Sunday.

County Restrictions
All permitted loads are restricted from travelling in the following counties between 7am to 9am or 4pm to 6pm Monday through Friday:

Boone
Campbell
Fayette
Jefferson
Kenton

Note: In compliance with the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 (STAA) and DOT Appropriations Act of 1983 and KRS 189.222, Kentucky has established a network of highways on which motor vehicles with increased dimensions (STAA vehicles) may operate. 23 C.F.R. 658.19 requires each state to allow the increased dimension vehicles to operate within one (1) driving mile (1.61 kilometers) of the designated highways. On state-maintained highways in Kentucky, the increased dimension vehicles are allowed to operate within five (5) driving miles (8.05 kilometers) of a designated highway unless the designated highway is an interstate or a parkway in which instance the increased dimension vehicles are allowed to operate within fifteen (15) miles (24.14 kilometers) of the interstate or parkway exit. The bus dimension limits are established in 603 KAR 5:071.

This website is for requesting oversize and/or overweight hauling permits. To use this site, you will need to obtain a username and password by registering your company.

If your company is registered but you have not yet been assigned a username and password, please request that from your company administrator and then return to this website.

If you are a motor carrier who has previously obtained permits through a permit service company, you will now need to register your company here to get a username and password.
